The Gibraltar Financial Services Commission (GFSC) is delighted to announce the re-appointment of Stephen Haddrill and Paul Smee to its Board.
Stephen Haddrill first joined the Board 1 August 2020 as Chair and Paul Smee joined shortly after on 5 October 2020.
Stephen Haddrill was the Chief Executive Officer of the UK Financial Reporting Council for ten years before retiring from the position in October 2019, bringing in measures such as strengthening of regulatory oversight of their audit and actuarial professions. He also served as Director General of the Association of British Insurers for almost five years and is now the Director General of the Finance and Leasing Association, the UK trade body for consumer credit and motor and asset finance providers.
Paul Smee has had a diverse career in finance sector trade bodies, having served as Director General of the Association of Independent Financial Advisors, Chief Executive Officer of the UK Payments Council and more recently, Director General of the Mortgage Lenders up until its merger into UK Finance in 2017. He currently holds several non-executive director roles.
The Minister for Digital and Financial Services, Albert Isola, approved the re-appointments and said “I am very pleased to have the opportunity to re-appoint Stephen as Chair and Paul to the Board for another term. I am very grateful to them both for continuing their service with the GFSC which greatly benefits from Stephen’s experience and stewardship in his role as Chair and Paul’s insightful and knowledgeable contributions to the Board. We are very fortunate to have them both with us and I am delighted they will continue working with us.”
