The Gibraltar Financial Services Commission (GFSC) is pleased to welcome new members to its Audit and Insolvency team.   

ICAEW qualified accountant and the GFSC’s Director of Finance, Ysabella Muscat, will now lead the team having started her career as an auditor at one of the big four firms prior to joining the GFSC in 2015. An instrumental figure over the years, Ysabella has contributed towards the strategic direction and operational management of the GFSC.  

Joining Ysabella as the Head of Audit and Insolvency is Susie Byrne, with over 15 years’ experience in investigatory work at His Majesty’s Revenue and Customs authority in the UK. Susie joined the GFSC in 2019 and moves from the Business Delivery team.  

Rojay Maquilang also joins the growing team as the GFSC's Technical Specialist, with over five years’ industry experience.

As regulator of the Audit and Insolvency sector, we continue to have the appropriate safeguards in place to ensure that any conflicts of interest are managed to remain independent and objective when meeting our regulatory objectives, without impacting the audit of the GFSC. 

Ysabella added: “Given my background in the audit sector, I am delighted to be able expand my remit to the regulatory supervision of auditors and insolvency practitioners and it is a great opportunity to be able to reconnect with industry.”
